A Craftsman Home in Montalvo
This home in the Saratoga Hills was never really landscaped. The front of the house was mostly a barren hillside. Although there was a rather nice looking garden structure on the slope behind the house, it had to be rebuilt because of its age. The gardening challenges were daunting: the steep slope needed to be retained; there were plenty of deer and gophers; and the young native Oaks needed special care. Our native California Oaks don't tolerate summer watering, so they should be kept dry during the summer months. What you now see in these photos was a complete transformation of an extremely difficult site.
